In “A Pleasant Little Stream”, crystal-clear water burbles over the rocky bed of the San Luis Obispo Creek. This is a metaphor for the intimacy between men and women. The pebbles alter the course of the water, purifying it, but never preventing it from continuing its journey. As it flows, the water smooths and polishes the earth beneath it. Earth and water cannot exist without each other, for they complete each other and make each other better.
